Beverage Distributor Lion Chooses LLamasoft’s Supply Chain Guru
November 1st, 2011
Ann Arbor, MI — Lion, a leading food and beverage company in Australia and New Zealand, has selected LLamasoft’s Supply Chain Guru® application to support the supply chain design and analytics initiatives of its Beer, Spirits & Wine division in Australia. Lion brands include, Tooheys, Hahn, James Boag, James Squire, West End and Swan.
Because many food and beverage products may be perishable, supply chains in this industry must be focused on freshness and designed to minimize shelf time while avoiding stock-outs. When perishable products reach their expiration date, distributors will usually retrieve them from stores and issue a credit.
By using Supply Chain Guru® to model the supply chain and run alternative scenarios, companies are able optimize their end-to-end supply chain network to achieve desired metrics around shelf-life, service levels, cost, capacity, risk, and sustainability. Companies that optimize their supply chain network designs can reduce costs by as much as 10-20% while maintaining, or even significantly improving, their customer service levels.
“With multiple breweries and distribution centres across two countries, our supply chain has built-in complexity,” said George Bearzot, Logistics Director Lion. “We needed a supply chain design platform that could factor in that complexity and enable us to optimize our inventory and logistics-we chose LLamasoft’s Supply Chain Guru®.”
Toby Brzoznowski, LLamasoft’s Executive Vice President added, “We’re proud that Lion has selected LLamasoft as its strategic supply chain partner and we are excited about helping Lion support its ongoing supply chain design initiatives.”
