Introduction to Supply Chain Guru

Course Overview: Introduction to Supply Chain Guru and model building features

Participants build a simple yet complete supply chain network model using the Supply Chain Guru user interface. This course covers topics including model data requirements, data import and export, geocoding, costs and capacities and basic solving techniques. Participants are introduced to scenarios for use in configuring what-if conditions. Analysis of network optimization results using tables, maps, charts and reports is explored.

Prerequisites: None

Network Optimization with Supply Chain Guru

Overview: Detailed instruction on network optimization using Supply Chain Guru

This course is designed to provide participants with a firm understanding of network optimization using Supply Chain Guru. Participants build a network model using the tools in Supply Chain Guru. Proficiency in the building blocks of a network model – sites, products and demand – is reinforced, as well as the mechanisms to control the behavior of the model – sourcing, inventory and transportation policies. Participants work with Supply Chain Guru’s geocoding and distance calculation features, site and product groups, input pipes and other powerful modeling techniques. Emphasis is placed on development of alternative scenarios to support “what-if” analysis based on constraints and costs. Participants evaluate scenarios using tables, thematic maps and other visualization tools within Supply Chain Guru. The course also introduces participants to topics including advanced constraints, bills of material and diagnosing infeasible models.

Prerequisites: “Introduction to Supply Chain Guru”, or experience with Supply Chain Guru or a similar product

Options: Custom data can be accommodated. This option requires review of available data prior to the course. Please contact LLamasoft for details.

Inventory Optimization with Supply Chain Guru

Overview: Detailed instruction on inventory optimization using Supply Chain Guru

This course is designed to provide participants with a firm understanding of the inventory optimization capabilities of Supply Chain Guru. Participants build a network model using the tools in Supply Chain Guru with a focus on the data elements and policies used to determine cycle stock, prebuild inventory and safety stock. Participants also work with product classification, demand profiles and safety stock rules available in Supply Chain Guru. The course targets a detailed grasp of demand and lead time variability as it impacts the different types of inventory. Participants evaluate costs, capacities, inventory levels, landed cost and service levels. The course also provides an introduction to the use of simulation to validate the results of inventory optimization.

Prerequisites: “Introduction to Supply Chain Guru”, or experience with Supply Chain Guru or a similar product

Supply Chain Guru Simulation

Overview: Detailed instruction on simulation using Supply Chain Guru

This course is designed to provide participants with a firm understanding of the simulation capabilities of Supply Chain Guru. Proficiency in the elements required for simulation, is stressed, such as products, demand and policies. Participants build a network model using the tools in Supply Chain Guru with a focus on variability in demand, lead time and processing time. Statistical variability is examined by modeling values, such as demand quantity and lead times, as distributions. The behavior of the model in simulation is evaluated to assess flow time, service levels, and inventory levels. Participants gain a thorough understanding of discrete event simulation and evaluate the effects of changes to sourcing, transportation and inventory policies.

Prerequisites: “Introduction to Supply Chain Guru”, or experience with Supply Chain Guru or a similar product
